Question: How long has this system been around?
Answer: The system has been produced since 1997.
Question: Who has been using the system?
Answer: The most popular application is in the diesel power generation plants. The units are working in Alaska, Russia, and 2 military power plants located on remote islands.
Question: How does the system work?
Answer: You will run hard pipes from your diesel storage tank and from the used oil storage tank to the system. The Eco-blend is equipped with 2 pumps. The fuel transfer and used oil pump draw both liquids through the filters at the same time. Both fuel and oil are processed through filters that remove particles down to 1/2 micron resulting in a cleaner fuel. The diesel fuel is pumped at a rate of 15 GPM. (Gallons per Minute)Once the liquids are clean, the used oil to new fuel is blended at your predetermined percentage. The adjustable blend can be set from 1% to 20%. The blended fuel then passes throughout a stainless steel, multi-static mixer which achieves total emulsification of the processed used oil and fuel. The fuel then can be sent directly to the day tank that supplies the diesel engines.
Question: How will the system address water in the oil and fuel?
Answer: The final product will be cleaned down to 98% removal of emulsified or free standing water.
Question: What is the loss in the used oil process?
Answer: Zero, If you have 5000 gallons of used oil, then 5000 gallons will process through in full. The rate of conversion will be based on the blend ratio.
Question: How many gallons of used oil does your operation produce annually?
Answer: We can convert your used oil into clean diesel fuel.
Question: How are you currently disposing of your used oil waste stream?
Answer: We can eliminate all 3rd party expenses of removing your waste oil.
Question: So what will be the benefit to our operation be by using this system?
Answer: To begin with, if you currently ship your used oil offsite, then our system will convert every gallon of used oil to a gallon of diesel fuel. If you are mandated to keep track of who collects the oil, where it will go, and test results of the used oil, that cost will be eliminated. Fuel efficiency will also increase by 5% due to the increased lubrication and BTU (British Thermal Unit) content in the fuel.
Question: How will the process provide that efficiency increase?
Answer: Paper filters that are rated at nominal performance. This means particles that are under 15 micron in size are not only wearing and fouling injectors and fuel pumps, but will lead to wasted fuel. Because of the higher quality filtration the system will remove the harmful particles and water. This not only captures the fuel loss caused by these contaminates but will reduce injector wear and fuel pump repairs. This will also extend life on your disposable paper filters by 50%. Again, our filters work on an absolute particle removal, paper disposables are based on nominal filtration.
Question: What other results or benefits can we analyze and how can we recognize them?
Answer: We are not absolutely sure what the quality of your diesel fuel is. In most parts of the world, a percentage of the fuel has water, sludge, algae, bacteria, and particulate contamination. The system’s filtration allows the diesel engine to run on purer fuel resulting in maximum outputs on your diesel expense.
Answer: Once the fuel and oil is processed, your new fuel has added natural lubrication to it. This lubrication will provide greater protection to your injector pumps, which in turn provides longer life between rebuild or replacement.
The other benefit is that your fuel is putting out higher BTU. On your equipment, are the stack emissions on your heavy equipment and diesel generation darker that you like? That is a result of unburned hydrocarbons. The higher BTU fuel provides a cleaner burn. A clean burn results in reduced emissions and reduced fuel use. One is not possible with the other, they are directly correlated.
